About Us

The Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix was established in 1940. Our mission was then and still is - to bring dignity and value to human life, nurture and enrich Jewish identity, and enhance the quality of Jewish life locally, in Israel, and throughout the world. We are diverse in background and interest and we have been blessed with an ever-increasing Jewish population that distinguishes itself through its richness and variety of Jewish life.

Poised on the threshold of the 21st century, we are presented with a unique opportunity to strengthen our Jewish infrastructure and enhance and preserve the quality of life for all people. As recent as December 2002 we completed a community demographic study that confirmed our belief that the greater Phoenix Jewish community is one of the fastest growing communities in North America.

In support of our mission, we believe that:

  • World Jewry must command our attention
  • Every Jew is responsible and connected one to another
  • We share a vital concern for the continuity of our heritage
  • We must remain dedicated to accumulating enduring assets to support the future of our community, respond to emergencies locally, nationally and overseas, and provide the seed money for special projects and innovative programs
  • We must continue to identify, educate, and motivate members of the Jewish community to assume responsible leadership roles and serve as role models for future generations

To accomplish our mission, we foster building an inclusive Jewish community where all people feel connected and responsible. The Federation can help everyone connect to the community.
